Haida Heritage Centre at Kaay Llnagaay is a masterful $20+ million dollar capital project with major contributions from various government departments. Most notably, the Province of BC contributed substantially towards Haida Heritage Centre at Qay'llnagaay.

The Performing House was used for the first time on July 13, 2006 when Premier Gordon Campbell visited Skidegate to announce the Province's $4 million contribution:

"The Haida Heritage Centre at Kaay Llnagaay will give visitors and students from around the world the opportunity to experience the unique culture, art and history of the Haida Nation. The Province is proud to support the preservation of Haida objects and treasures for future generations, build tourism and create sustainable employment on the Haida Gwaii / Queen Charlotte Islands."

  • November, 2004 - Western Economic Diversification Canada, Northwest BC - Community Futures Development Corporation Haida Gwaii excerpt:

"The Qay'llnagaay Heritage Centre Society in Skidegate will receive $1,129,900 for ... the Bill Reid Teaching Centre and Performance Space..."

"The Qay'llnagaay Heritage Centre will become a leading international attraction providing permanent employment for 24 people, with the potential for spinoff businesses. By generating increased tourism revenue, the Qay'llnagaay Heritage Centre will help to diversify and support the economy of the Islands."
