
A house for many occasions - for all communities. Our Performing House offers space for contemporary theatre and music; presentations, lectures; movies and videos. Cultural ceremonies, food sharing, story telling, and sharing of song and dance are several of the activities the Performing House may be used for.
Space is flexible and can be used for many different purposes. The stage and lower center section of this facility are available for dance and other performances to entertain visitors.

The Performing House was used for the first time on July 13th, 2006 when
Premier Gordon Campbell visited Skidegate.

- A building interior that is fashioned after a traditional Haida cedar longhouse with a tiered floor leading to a pit
- A wall that separates the backstage from performance space. The wall is fashioned after a traditional dance screen that is made up of horizontal wooden slats with a traditional Haida design painted on it
- A fire pit and smoke hole round out the traditional theme of the interior.

The dance area is surrounded by:
- Graphics or photos of dancers displayed opposite the stage area.
- Visual materials will also be displayed - materials that depict various milestones the Haida have achieved politically in defense of their connection to lands and waters that have supported the Haida ecosystem for thousands of years.
