The Carving House is a large, open-walled building designed to house monumental poles for our enterprising and talented local artists to work on. These cedar poles would otherwise be too large to fit in the enclosed carving shed located off Highway 16, as you travel north.
The frontal pole of the Carving House represents the Skidegate pole carved by master carver, Norman Price. The Carving House is the meeting place for guided tours of our vast, multi-complex Haida Heritage Centre at Kaay Llnagaay - "Sea Lion Town".
